True Halo Gifts For A Gamer
OFFLINE
TRank:1

The holiday season is near and you are asking yourself. What should I get for my friend that loves to play video games ?

You are already aware of their passion for playing video games and loud music.

Okay so the first task is to figure out what games they have or do not have.  A little shoulder surfing in this case could be your first best bet. Shoulder surfing is just what it sounds like.  If you see them playing a game a lot then you can get a feel of what genre they are more likely to play.

You have exactly 27 days to access the depth of their video game collection!

But if you do not want to waste time collecting intel :) then just stick to the newest games out this month or within the past two months.

Here are some favorites for this Holiday Season:

If They love Shooting and Blowing Shit up

  • Halo 3 (Xbox 360)
  • Call of Duty 4 (Xbox 360,Ps3, PC, Nintendo DS)

True Halo:The Ring of Death
OFFLINE
TRank:1

So I just got the ring of death on my xbox... Who cares! right? Well I do! Lets just take a moment to reflect on a previous date which will live in infamy.( At least for me that is)

About a year ago I was pressed with the decision to purchase a new video game system! Something to pass the time when I"m at home and not doing anything. [Which is a large amount of time. :)]

Something that can serve as a system slash dvd, slash whatevers.. Basically something that can do it all. The first thing that came to mind was the Nintendo Wii. A proven system and giant as far as classic games go! OK nice but do I really want to play Wii bowling that much? Ahhh no!

Next: The Playstation 3- bad a***graphics, Blue Ray DvD, blah, blah, blah... But at the time it was like 600 smackers.. Ahhhhhh No!

I could Buy a Lifetime pass for the SUPER FERRY for that much. Or NOt! Thats yet to be told.

Finally the Coveted Xbox 360:

If you dont know me by now. You prolly know that I am Halo freak and I like to play that game alot! I figure Hey!, Microsoft = Big Name With Proven Track record! Right?

It cost less than the Playstation 3 and you get more s***with it. It has way more games available for online play and they are light years ahead of Sony in the areas that count.

Its a no brainer.. I'll Take It :)

Fast forward 10 mos Later.. I go to turn on my Box and Low and behold three flashing red lights. Oh s***I heard of this but I never thought it would happen to me! Sounds like a STD commercial.. But seriously WTF.. WTF..

How Does Microsoft Sleep at night knowing that they sell faulty Xbox 360's by the thousands. Ohh I know they sleep on the beds of cash that they jack from dumb asses like me! The worst part is that I will still continue to use their product.

So is that the catch! Is that how you maintain quality assurance ? You get people hooked on the user functionality of the product and wrapped it in a crappy game console!

Then they sit back and say. "They'll be back, they always come back"

Clean Up Your iTunes !! The True Halo Way
OFFLINE
TRank:1

This
is a simple tweak that you can do with your itunes music, so if you are
a pro user of itunes then I would like to say thank you for stopping by
and talk to you again soon! :)

Hello
everybody:) So I was just thinking today, WOW I have a mess of music on
my computer in my itunes. I have over a 100 Gigs of music, video, and
podcast that includes just about every genre that their is on this
green earth. (
Including my Favorite Tickle Me Elmo Jingles)
I remember when their was a time that my music library was really
jumbled and unorganized. So browsing my music can be a little teadious,
especially if I am not quite sure what I feel like listening to. That
was when I decided to make my life a little more simple.

Soooo...
with that being said, I am sure that all of you that may be reading
this post have purchased your music directly from the itunes store or
which ever music affiliate of your choice. Because it is the moral
thing to do! Right?

Haha..
Yeah right! As much as I appreciate the talent of the musicians out
there and the quality of the art/content that they produce. I'm sorry
but Nobody pays for their music anymore. Well almost Nobody!

And when you don't pay for your music you don't always get all of the
things that come with the nice cellophane wrapping. Those things would
be the Album cover and lyrics and blah blah...

So back to itunes.

In itunes their are nice little applications that allow you to see all of
your music. You can view it in a List format, a thumbnail or album
format, and the ever popular coverflow format. So.. if you're like me,
you may or may not like the list format. Which is the most simple style
their is for itunes.. I like the coverflow because it just looks a
little bit more stylish and cool. "Like oooh look at all my album
covers that I accumulated". :)

One problem though.. YOU DON'T HAVE ALL THE ALBUM COVERS!!

Sooooo... One of the easiest ways to fix that problem is to to do a couple of things:

1. Open itunes
2. CHOOSE THE ADVANCE OPTIONS TAB
3. THEN YOU SELECT GET ALBUM COVERS

That was easy right...COol..

This allows you to use itunes database to upload album covers that they already have on file.

-You may or may not get all the covers that you need! When this happens this is what you do!

1. Open itunes
2. Select Your Music tab on the left hand side of the itunes player
3. Switch to the Cover Flow view (the far right tab next to search box in the top right corner)
4. Go to the Song that you want to add a Album cover to.
5. Right Click or command click with a Mac the song of choice, SELECT Get Info
6. Choose the Artwork Tab
7. Then You click the ADD button

- when you click ADD; itunes will prompt you to choose the location of the picture..
-
You can use of picture of yourself or you can Google for the image of
the album cover and save to your computer so that you can upload it to
itunes.

This
may take some time depending on the amount music you have, but it will
look so much better when you finish the process.. ;)

Myspace Vs. Facebook
OFFLINE
TRank:1
Myspace vs. Facebook A wide variety of articles have been surfacing about the social website wars. With so many social websites starting up on the web in was only a matter of time before the virtual classes would begin to segregate. According to a University of California Berkeley researcher Danah Boyd: the teenagers that use these popular social websites are not exactly leaving Myspace for Facebook, but they are dividing themselves along the lines of class. This seems to be true in many aspects. In my own opinion these sites are made with different types of classes in mind.

Myspace is a more working class group. The teenagers that use Myspace are typically from a working class family. Were both parents are in the work field and sometimes work more than one job. Generally speaking these teenagers work straight out of high school or train for a vocation and immediately enter the workforce.

Studies show that Myspace still recieves more unique hits per day than Facebook. Although the amount of of visitors (ages 12-17) going to Facebook jumped 149% over the past year. That is a significant change that advertisers are taking seriously. The estimated revenue for the 2007 calender year for Facebook is $125 million, and $525 million for Myspace. According to eMarketer, together, these two sites account for 72% of all online advertising on social networks.

Boyd says that the reasons why the "goody-two-shoes, jocks, athletes or other 'good' kids" are going to facebook, are due to the fact that it was a site created for Harvard students. Eventually it opened for other college students and then eventually high school students that were invited by their friends that were attending college. Obviously this was a place to be if you are teenager that has aspirations of attending an Ivy League college. Also the constant local stories of online predators in Myspace help push more kids away to a seemingly safer community.

In my opinion I feel like their are two distinct classes that have evolved over time in the online world of community networks. At first it started as one giant network lumped into one online cast system. This system finally began to segregate itself just as real life societies do. Now, I am not saying that its a form of classism or racism but just a development out of necessity. I am a member of both Myspace and Facebook. I have been a member of Myspace from the very early beginnings when you could not "pimp" your profile and their was no such thing as MySpace Videos.

I joined Facebook earlier this year because I was invited by one of my girlfriends who happened to send me an invite. I have yet to get more accustomed to my Facebook account, but I do get the sense that it is a community of education, and success driven members. All of my friends in Facebook are either college grads or working toward their Phd.

I am a product of a working class family. I spent a lot of time at home by myself as a child, but I am also a college graduate with a bachelors degree.
Why did I join a new network when I already belonged to one? Maybe it was because I was starved to find more stimulating interactions between friends. Sometimes Myspace can be very pretentious and ego based. It has become a showcase of loud and sometimes repulsive advertisement. You can never tell if someone wants to be your friend for real or just use your "space" to advertise themselves. Its kind of a self indulging organism. But their are many things that I love about Myspace also. I love the individualistic expressions that people leave on their pages. The user profile has been used in very unique ways to portray some very thoughtful and pleasing messages. That is what the community sites should be like.

I predict in the near future Facebook and Myspace will dominate the social network societies but have only 50% control of social advertising. Their will be more and more social network sites coming into the picture. It is only a time before another giant comes along with a new dot com success story. Until then I guess I have to design a master plan to make the best community site for everyone.
